The Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) Thursday dismissed claims that the rebellious Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) has retaken several towns from the federal forces.TPLF’s claims was  the usual spread of the false propaganda and misinformation and it came after the members of the nation defense force were redeployed to several parts of the country from Tigray to ensure peace and security during the election process.

In a briefing on Thursday, ENDF Public Relations Director, Colonel Getnet Adane said the terrorist TPLF exploited the temporal redeployment of the army soldiers to exit from their hideouts and spread the false propaganda and misinformation.

According to the Director, the terrorist group disseminated the false propaganda to gain international attention and ask them to let it start dialogue with the federal government.

Moreover, the army moved to other areas so that farmers in Tigray can farm their lands undisturbed.

Seizing this opportunity, the terrorist group has been celebrating along with the group’s militias who were in hiding by pretending they have gained victory, he explained.

In addition, the terrorist group has been spreading propaganda claiming that it controlled the areas which the defense force vacated for deployment to other areas, the director added.

The aim of the misinformation campaign is to divert the peaceful conclusion of the election, said Colonel Getnet.
