Cotonsport of Garoua on Monday announced the sacking of their head coach Minkreo Birwé with immediate effect following a poor start of the season.

A one nil home defeat on Sunday against AS Fortuna compounded  Birwé’s and Cotonsports’s miseries as the club look a shadow of its former self.

« Following poor results from last season … Cotonsport of Garoua this day have parted ways with Birwé Mikreo, » the club said in a statement.

Oussoumanou Christophe has been placed in temporary charge, the club added.

The former Cameroon champions are having a nightmare-start to the season picking up just five points in their first two matches and failing to win any of their two homes games so far.

An eight-goal thriller which last weekend in their first home game against APEJES of Mfou which saw both sides share the spoils fired the warning signals and yesterday’s defeat was one too many for the club to take.

The club also based their decision to sack their coach on their failure to wrestle back the league title last year as well as their poor run in the Champions League which saw them fail to go past the group stages of the competition.
