Nana Payong, an organiser of the Universities of Africa and the diaspora forum, has said cyber security will ensure the safe digitisation of Africa.

Nana made the remark on August 3 in Yaounde during a press conference aimed at announcing the third edition of the universities of Africa and the diaspora.

While presenting the innovations to make up this year’s edition, Payong said the rise in cyber-attacks is the reason behind the theme on “Cyber criminality: a priority for digital development in Africa”. To him, the forum will create and maintain the link between the diaspora and Africa while valorising the African continent digital talents. He explain that with the rise in cyber-attacks, there is a need to create set ups that will secure the digitalisation of Africa.

The forum organised in partnership with the Toulouse Polytechnic institute, will bring together national and international experts who will exchange and share experiences on cybersecurity initiatives. It will equally be a platform to project young entrepreneurs to potential investors through the “start up saga” a slot dedicated to young entrepreneurs.

The forum will feature speakers such as Daniel HAGIMONT, a senior lecturer and a digital expert, Ingrid d’HALLUIN a former digital journalist and Tidiane DIOH the director of media affairs at la Francophonie, amongst others.
