The whereabouts of the popular sportscaster was thrown up in the air after the State broadcaster aired an announcement last week calling on him to return to his duty post of face disciplinary sanctions.

This had raised debate amongst fans and the audience with many speculating Fon Echekiye had resigned from the Cameroon Radio and Television-CRTV and travelled out of the country while others feared for the worse.

However, the State broadcaster moved to quash such rumours on Monday as Fon Echekiye has been drafted to host a pre-world cup program that kicked off on Monday.

The CRTV followed up with a post on their Facebook Page which seemed to mock rumours Fon Echekiye had quit the broadcaster.

“Some say he has travelled out of Cameroon but this is Fon Echekiye; sports journalist anchoring a warm up program ahead of Russia 2018 World Cup(program scheduled to run) from the 5th to 13 June,” the CRTV said on its Facebook page.
