The ordinary session of the Senate opens today at the Yaounde Conference Centre for the first time since the Senatorial elections.

The 70 elected senators and the 30 appointed will meet for the first time in session that will be presided by the eldest member of Senate Nfon Victor E Mukete.

The session will first of all verify the identity of all the senators to ensure the compatibility of theirs function before proceeding with the election of the the new bureau.

The Senate which is latgely dominated by the ruling Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement won 63 of the 70 seats available during the last elections with the main opposition party the SDF with just seven seats.

The Head of State proceeded by apponting the remaining thirty senators most of them from his party.
