The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 723 new cases and 12 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Monday.The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (11), Cape Verde (255), Ivory Coast (32), Ghana (129), Guinea (100), Guinea-Bissau (2), Liberia (1), Mali (67), Niger (33), Nigeria (35), Senegal (31) and Togo (27). The new deaths were recorded in Cape Verde (2), Ivory Coast (1), Guinea (1), Mali (5), Nigeria (1), and Senegal (2). West Africa now has 455,577 total cases, 6,005 total deaths and 425,177 total recoveries.

Nigeria (164,719) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (92,166), Ivory Coast (45,852), Senegal (40,166), Guinea (21,985), Cape Verde (22,349), Burkina Faso (13,263), Togo (12,814), Mali (13,627), Benin (7,720), Gambia (5,857), Niger (5,191), Sierra Leone (4,044), Guinea-Bissau (3,726) and Liberia (2,098).

Moreover, Nigeria (2,062) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,104), Ghana (777), Mali (467), Ivory Coast (282), Niger (191), Cape Verde (203), Gambia (173), Burkina Faso (156), Guinea (141), Togo (121), Benin (97), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (67).

Also, Nigeria (154,926) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (89,920), Ivory Coast (45,374), Senegal (38,904), Guinea (19,271), Cape Verde (19,204), Burkina Faso (12,937), Togo (10,755), Mali (8,071), Benin (7,510), Gambia (5,284), Niger (4,834), Guinea-Bissau (3,252), Sierra Leone (2,993) and Liberia (1,942).

Africa has registered 4,546,447 total cases, 120,498 total deaths and 4,064,235 total recoveries while the world has recorded 148,230,622 total cases, 3,127,988 total deaths and 126,166,544 total recoveries.
