The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 610 new cases and 6 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Saturday.The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (35), Cape Verde (79), Ivory Coast (38), Gambia (1), Ghana (147), Guinea (83), Guinea-Bissau (38), Liberia (4), Mali (25), Niger (1), Nigeria (126), Senegal (17), Sierra Leone (7) and Togo (9). The new deaths were registered in Burkina Faso (1), Cape Verde (1), Gambia (2) and Ghana (2).

Nigeria has the highest number of total cases (59,127), total deaths (1,112) and total recoveries (50,593) in the sub-region. West Africa now has 177,936 total cases, 2,631 total deaths and 159,175 total recoveries.

Ghana (46,803 total cases) has 303 total deaths and 46,006 total recoveries. Ivory Coast (19,793 total cases) has 120 total deaths and 19,357 total recoveries. Senegal and Guinea have recorded 15,068 and 10,735 total cases respectively. 

Senegal has 312 total deaths and 12,751 total recoveries while Guinea has 66 total deaths and 10,066 total recoveries. Cabo Verde (6,205 total cases) has 62 total deaths and 5,399 total recoveries. Gambia (3,585 total cases) has 115 total deaths and 2,224 total recoveries.

Mali (3,156 total cases) has 131 total deaths and 2,467 total recoveries.  Guinea-Bissau (2,362 total cases) has 39 total deaths and 1,549 total recoveries.  Benin (2,357 total cases) has 41 total deaths and 1,973 total recoveries.

Sierra Leone (2,259 total cases) has 72 total deaths and 1,704 total recoveries and Burkina Faso (2,123 total cases) has 59 total deaths and 1,385 total recoveries.  Liberia (1,347 total cases) has 82 total deaths and 1,221 total recoveries. Togo (1,818 total cases) has 48 total deaths and 1,365 total recoveries.  Niger (1,198 total cases) has 69 total deaths and 1,115 total recoveries. 

Africa has registered 1,506,980 total cases, 36,301 total deaths and 1,247,233 total recoveries while the world has recorded 34,962,238 total cases, 1,035,042 total deaths and 25,986,779 total recoveries.
