The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 550 new cases and 8 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Sunday.The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (11), Cape Verde (73), Ivory Coast (44), Gambia (9), Ghana (165), Guinea (34), Liberia (1), Mali (16), Nigeria (136), Senegal (40), Sierra Leone (7) and Togo (14). The new deaths were registered in Cape Verde (1), Nigeria (3), Senegal (2) and Togo (2).

Nigeria has the highest number of total cases (58,198), total deaths (1,106) and total recoveries (49,722) in the sub-region. West Africa now has 175,057 total cases, 2,598 total deaths and 156,001 total recoveries.

Ghana (46,387 total cases) has 299 total deaths and 45,618 total recoveries. Ivory Coast (19,600 total cases) has 120 total deaths and 19,122 total recoveries. Senegal and Guinea have recorded 14,909 and 10,512 total cases respectively. 

Senegal has 308 total deaths and 12,113 total recoveries while Guinea has 65 total deaths and 9,836 total recoveries. Cabo Verde (5,701 total cases) has 56 total deaths and 5,018 total recoveries. Gambia (3,564 total cases) has 110 total deaths and 2,061 total recoveries.

Mali (3,080 total cases) has 130 total deaths and 2,410 total recoveries.  Guinea-Bissau (2,324 total cases) has 39 total deaths and 1,549 total recoveries.  Benin (2,325 total cases) has 40 total deaths and 1,960 total recoveries.

 Sierra Leone (2,215 total cases) has 72 total deaths and 1,681 total recoveries and Burkina Faso (1,973 total cases) has 56 total deaths and 1,264 total recoveries.  Liberia (1,339 total cases) has 82 total deaths and 1,221 total recoveries. Togo (1,736 total cases) has 46 total deaths and 1,319 total recoveries.  Niger (1,194 total cases) has 69 total deaths and 1,107 total recoveries. 

Africa has registered 1,461,669 total cases, 35,130 total deaths and 1,208,129 total recoveries while the world has recorded 33,192,624 total cases, 1,000,499 total deaths and 24,519,342 total recoveries.
