The newly appointed Commander of the 21st Motorised Infantry Brigade, Colonel Jotsa David, has been commissioned into his function amidst soaring security threats in the South West Region.

Colonel Jotsa was installed into his function by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo, on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at the Buea Independence Square.

The commissioning ceremony brought together top security, administrative, judicial, political, religious and traditional authorities.

In his commissioning address, Minister Beti Assomo thanked the South West population, whom he said, has been collaborating with the security forces to weed out those he termed “secessionists and terrorists”, who are trying to undermine the security of the country.

He equally thanked Cameroon valiant forces for the sacrifices are they are making each day to safeguard the territorial integrity of the country. This integrity, the Defence boss said, is greatly threatened by hoodlums and outlaws.

He urged the new 21st Motorised Infantry Brigade Commander to work in synergy with all the strata of society to maintain peace and order in the Region, which has been plunged into a protracted turmoil for almost two years.

The former Governor of the Littoral Region further beseeched the 57-year-old Jotsa to immediately get to work and secure the territorial integrity of Cameroon.

He instructed the new Commander to uphold professional secrecy, to respect his hierarchy and to instil discipline and prudence in those under his command.

Minister Beti Assomo also implored Colonel Jotsa to, as a matter of urgency; cause the effective resumption of work at the two giant agro-industries in the South West Region viz: PAMOL Plantation and CDC, which have been grounded due to the ongoing Anglophone Crisis.

According to the Minister, this economic sector needs to regain its verve, given the thousands of workers it employs and it importance to Government’s revenue

Meanwhile, Beti Assomo thanked Colonel Melingui Nouma Donatien, the outgoing Commander of the 21st Motorised Infantra Brigade, for the wonderful work he has done in the South West Region and wished him well in his new assignment.
