Construction works for some modern infrastructure at the University of Yaounde II-Soa will soon kick off, authorities of the institituition have confirmed.

The institution will in the days see the start of construction works of a hostel comprised of 12500 rooms, administrative buildings, two modern restaurants as well as a three-star hotel.

To that effect, a partnership agreement was signed between the Rector of the University of Yaounde II, Adolphe Minkoa She and the head of the Elite Trends Group, Emmanuel Musuko Junior on Thursday, June 11.  The project will cover over 15 hectares of land which has already been carved out and the works will last for five years when they effectively start, the Rector of the University of Yaounde II said.

Presiding over the signing ceremony, the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo lauded both parties for the initiative and said the project falls in line with government’s drive to modernize universities.

“This is what the government has always requested; take advantage of local expertise to build modern infrastructure. We wish that this project meets the aspirations of students who need quality lodging at a low rate,” Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo said.
