The vice president of the United Council’s and Cities of Cameroon dubbed UCCC have had it’s vice president Mayor Dighambong Anthony Mvo welcomed triumphantly to his home town municipality in Wum.
Mayor Dighambong Anthony Mvo successfully held a grand historic civic reception of his home coming as first vice president an event which took place at the Wum grandstand on Saturday March 5, 2022.
The crowd puller event which brought together sons and daughters of Menchum from far and wide, was chaired by the Secretary General at the North West Governor’s office Viang Mekala who sat in for the governor.
In his speech, Viang Mekala made it clear that the event does not only puts Menchum infront but also the entire North West region as a whole as he challenged the population of the Wum municipality to at all times defend the interest of their area given that the Mayor will work hand in gloves with them to ensure the development of the area.
The SG enjoined the UCCC vice president Mayor Dighambong Anthony to sell the image of Menchum and the North West region to the National territory. While lauding Mayor Dighambong Anthony for being present in his municipality, Viang Mekala exhorted all other municipalities in Menchum and those of other Divisions to work extra hard and be present in their municipalities for the effective development in their council areas given that the population are in dire need for peace and notably the development of their communities.

As per the task given to the Mayor in his new capacity as first vice president of the United Council and Cities of Cameroon, the population were also called upon to help the Mayor accomplish his mission assigned to him as he was entrusted by the Mayor’s of the council’s of the North West region. SG Viang Mekala told all and sundry in the chief town of Menchum that “Menchum will not be destroyed by those who want to but those who watch and see it been destroyed.”
The UCCC vice president in his speech to the population, told the keen population that the region is in line to benefit a chunk of many projects as he walks in the corridor of power at the UCCC. “I call on us all to do something because it is right and good to do and don’t do something because someone is watching. I will not give or provide gold but I promise to give my heart to the population which is pure and I want to be used as an instrument of peace and love.” Dighambong Anthony expantiated.
The KESU Youths were during the event specially gifted by the Mayor who handed to them the sum of two million CFA Francs due to their hard work and development oriented nature.
Representing the National President of the UCCC, Denis Awoh Dang the regional president of North West Mayor’s on his part said the post of first vice president of the United Council and Cities of Cameroon comes at a time the drive towards decentralization is well enhanced as announced severally by the Head of State President Paul Biya.
On behalf of all the elites, Akwa Patrick Kum Bong saluted the efforts of all and sundry for gracing the event while describing Mayor Dighambong Anthony as a square peg in a square hole. He used the opportunity to abreast the Mayor that his job will be challenging as it is a National job while hoping that he and the executive bench lead through the decentralization process in the country. The elite promised a total collaboration of the elites and population throughout the Mayor’s reign at the UCCC office. Mayor Dighambong Anthony was exhorted to be a true person to enact the development of the community.
The population who witnessed the civic reception event were left spell bound by the humility of their Mayor and promised to be law abiding.
To note that Mayor Dighambong Anthony Mvo was born into the family of a wine tapper, Papa Dighambong and a full time housewife, peasant farmer, Mammy Ezigha Njei on June 17, 1970. Pursued primary education in St. Martin’s and secondary education in GHS both in Wum before proceeding to a high school at Nacho Comprehensive High School in Bamenda. Dighambong Anthony furthered to the universities of Dschang and Yaounde and crowned the ladder at ENS Bambili with a professional teaching degree. Mayor Dighambong today is a teacher cum politician who is so far am inspiration to many both young and old.
