At least three police officers are said to have been kidnapped in Oku, Bui Division of the North West Region on Sunday after an attack launched by armed separatists, sources have said.

According to reliable sources, at least 50 separatist fighters launched a simultaneous attack on the Oku gendarmerie brigade, the special branch police station and the residence of the Assistant Divisional Officer.

The attack that lasted for over three hours saw the armed men invade the residence of the Assistant DO,who had taken cover at the gendarmerie brigade, burning his personal belongings before burning down the  Oku Special branch Police Station.

A van belonging to the Oku gendarmerie brigade was also seized while the armed men abducted three police officers as they pulled back.

Sunday’s attack came after the release of the Fon of Oku who had been in captivity for over one week.
