Registration into secondary schools for the 2020-2021 academic year opened on Tuesday, September 1 in strict respect to orders from the Ministry of Secondary Education.

A recent communiqué signed by the Minister of Secondary Education, Prof. Nalova Lyonga, schools can start admitting students ahead of the new academic year which is scheduled to kick off on October 5.

Payment of registration fees as well as other academic charges can now be done via the various available electronic means.

However, it is not yet the normal affluence at school gates from parents to register their children though some have already begun taking interest.

A few schools visited in Yaounde, there was little or no activity at the campus though modalities have already been set in most of these schools.

It is the case at the Baptist High School Awae, where interviews into Form One have already been conducted while the deadline for registration has already elapsed.

The school’s administration said, they are strictly respecting the measure not to admit more than fifty students per class and are in the process of reshaping the dormitories to meet up with the new exigencies brought about by the COVID-19.

Equally, at the Government Bilingual High School Yaounde, registration is still timid but the Principal of the institution Agbor Tambe said they are expecting massive movement with parents coming in for admissions. He reassured the school remains prepared following all the COVID-19 measures taken  after schools resumed on June 1 to enable students of examination classes to complete the 2019-2020 academic year.
