The President of the North West House of Chiefs, Fon Kevin Shumitang II has reportedly been kidnapped from his palace in the North West Region.

Sources say he was kidnapped on Tuesday evening from his palace in Bambalang by suspected armed separatist fighters who whisked him off to an unknown destination.

Sources say the Fon had just returned to the palace few days ago to perform some traditional rituals when the armed men swooped on him late on Tuesday evening.

It is reported his kidnappers are requesting a ransom in excess of FCFA 20 million. However, no group has claimed responsibility for the act.
