Cameroonians abroad urged to participate in humanitarian plan

Cameroon’s Ambassador to the United States of America,Henry Etoundi Essomba, has exhorted Cameroonians abroad to heavily partake in the government led Emergency Humanitarian Assistance Plan for English speaking Cameroonians affected by the escalating Anglophone crisis.

According to official reports, Henry Etoundi Essomba, has invited the Presidents of the social and cultural associations of Cameroonians residing abroad, to meet and discuss the terms of participation in this fundraising initiative, all in the bid to meet the target of F CFA 12 billion fixed by the Head of State.

This consultation the reports reveal, is expected to take place on July 9, under the watchful presence of diplomats. Going by Etoundi Essomba, this will be a sign of patriotism.

It should be noted that Cameroon’s Embassy in the United States is the first Cameroonian diplomatic service  to have initiated a diaspora participation in the plan. Meanwhile, in Cameroon, more than F CFA 800 million, have already been raised since the fundraising initiative was launched on June 21.
