A girl is in custody at the Mbouda Gendarmerie Brigade in the West Region after she was accused of dumping a new born baby.

The lady in her mid twenties was arrested on Monday, by elements of the Mbouda Gendarmerie who immediately opened investigations after the baby was discovered.

Weighing about 2,5kg, the baby was still attached to the umbilical cord and wrapped in a towel before pupils returning from school made the discovery and alerted population before forces of law and order stepped in.

The baby was immediately taken to the Mbouda District hospital for medical attention whiles serves have equally been providing support.
