Some supporters of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement who were detained in Bangangte for preaching election boycott have been released.

They were released on Thursday after the Court of First Instance slammed a two-month jail term on them, which is equivalent to the time they have spent in detention.

Speaking after their release, their lawyer said it was a big victory for the party and their continuous fight for democracy to prevail in the country.

It should be recalled that they were arrested in Bangangte for sharing flyers calling on the population to boycott the February 9 Legislative and Municipal elections in the country.

After their arrests, a Cameroonian activists based in France prayed the French President Emmanuel Macron to ask his Cameroonian counterpart Paul Biya to release them which the French Prsident promised to do among other requests.
