The World Bank has granted an additional sum of 35 Billion cfa francs to the Safety Net Project to enable it realize its objectives that include amongst others to alleviate poverty and vulnerability in communities that are host to refugees in Cameroon.

The information was made known in Yaounde Wednesday May 15, 2019 during the technical follow-up committee meeting for economic programs of the Safety Net Project.

The development objective of the Social Safety Net Project for Cameroon is amongst others to support the establishment of a basic national safety net system.

During the meeting, it was also disclosed that the French Development agency is poised to sponsor some projects in priority areas in Cameroon with the intentions of improving the living conditions of the rural masses.

Last year in May, the World Bank approved an International Development Association package of $274 million to finance 4 projects that focused on helping refugees and host communities in Cameroon, with access to health care, education, social safety nets, and social and economic infrastructure.
