Close to 5000 students have taken the oath of matriculation at the University of Bamenda as they begin a new journey in their academic career.
The matriculation ceremony took place on the campus of the University of Bamenda in Bambili on Tuesday November 27 and was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of the institution Pr. Theresia Akenji.
The keynote speaker of the event was the Station Manager of the CRTV North West region, Marie Louise Ngwa as other dignitories of the North West region were equally in attendance.
It was a twin ceremony on the campus as the Vice Chancellor equally installed newly appointed officials at the University of Bamenda, notably the Director of Academic Affairs.
Yesterday’s ceremony took place under tight security as there were reports of heavy gunshots in Bambili and other neighbouring localities.
Reports say armed men mounted road blocks in Bambui on the way to Bambili while vehicles were burnt down and somme students and a staff of the University of Bamenda reportedly abducted. The University of Bamenda is yet to issue a statement on this.
