At least two persons have been shot and killed today in Buea, capital of the South West Region of Cameroon, sources have said.
The two men were reportedly shot around Campaign street 2, Soppo in Buea by Cameroon security forces on patrol in that area, sources say.
A resident of Street 2 in Buea said a military truck that drove past had fired shots in the midst of the ghost town and the population later discovered two corpses lying on the streets.
One of the civilians killed was identified as Emmanuel Ndam as residents are still in shock following the incident. Buea got up to their regular Monday ghost town operation as most businesses remained closed while the streets were completely deserted.
In a related development, sources say the gendarmerie post in Bonjongo in Limbe, bothering Buea was attacked late last night leaving one student gendarme injured while the attackers made away with weapons.
