The court session of the detained leader of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement Maurice Kamto and allies underway at the Yaounde Military Tribunal has been suspended by the presiding judge, after one of the co-accused, Christian Penda Ekoka went unconscious.

The case opened this morning at about 11am under very tight security, with roads surrounding the Yaounde Military Tribunal blocked.

Reports say before the case began, some pro-Kamto supporters were arrested after launching protests outside the court premises.

The court session resumes at 2pm.

Prof Maurice Kamto and allies were arrested on the 28 of January over charges of hostility against the fatherland, insurrection, illegal political grouping, the destruction of public and private property amongst others and risk a death sentence if found guilty, according to their lawyers.
