Several persons have been injured following a stampede at the entrance to the Olembe stadium, JournalduiCameroun can report.

The stampede occurred moments before the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon faced Comoros for the round of 16 fixture of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Moments before the game, the security deployed could not contain the crowd that pushed through to make their way into the stadium.

This led to several persons falling while others trampled on them as they made their way into the stadium. Several persons went unconscious while several persons injured were transported to a health facility in the Messassi neighbourhood.
