The Chairman of the Social Democratic Front Ni John Fru Ndi has reportedly been kidnapped today in Bamenda at his residence by unidentified gunmen, sources have said.

Sources say he was kidnapped aas he was taking lunch following his return from the hospital after a medical check up. His body guard was reportedly shot on the leg by the armed men before taking the Chairman away.

Eyewitness account say the Chairman stepped out of his house to verify after hearing gunshots but was immediately pulled away at gun point by armed men who bundled him into a red vehicle before taking him away.

This is the second time the Chairman of the SDF is kidnapped in just over two months after he was first taken hostage on April 27 at Wainama on his way to Kumbo as he was accompanying the casket of late Honourable Joseph Banadzem. He was later released the same day after spending hours in camp with the separatist fighters.

The Social Democratic Front has confirmed the kidnap which took place around 15h15.
