The Citizen Front, a civil society group made up of political actors and opinion leaders has thrown its weight behind the anticipated lawyers strike.

The Bar Council announced at the weekend that lawyers in Cameroon will embark on a five-day strike beginning September 16.

In a press conference in Douala today, the Citizen Front threw its weight behind the move and called on all Cameroonians to support the initiative.

Led by Edith Kah Walla, the Citizen Front said all sections of national life need to pressurise the government to respect national and international laws.

They have equally called for Cameroonians to mobilise ahead of the trial of Maurice Kamto which starts on Friday September 6.
