Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo, Cameroon’s Minister of Higher Education, has said the process to recruit two thousand PhD holders as lecturers into the eight state universities of Cameroon, will be very objective.
Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo made the declaration during a press briefing Wednesday November 14, 2018, accompanied by the Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary.
The Higher Education Boss press outing was aimed at clarifying the public on President Paul Biya’s November 13 decision.
Addressing reporters, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo said the selection process will be carried out by a central coordination committee. The committee, going by him, will be overseen by the Prime Minister Head of Government, who is expected to ensure transparency and fairness. All this in the bid to ensure that only qualified teaching staff get recruited into state universities.
Fame Ndongo stated that the recruitment is open to Cameroonians, PhD holders, living in the country and abroad, with an age limit of 45 years.
The Higher Education boss said application files for PhD holders out of education milieu who wish to apply shall also be considered.
Concerning applications from University departments, the Minister said university departments will express the need through the university registrar, who will in turn forward the request to the state.
In all, one thousand assistant lecturers will be recruited in 2019, five hundred in 2020 and five hundred in 2021.
