The Principal of the Government High School Jiyane in Oku Mr. Kubum Martin is reported to have died on Tuesday morning after he was released from captivity, sources have said.
The Principal is said to have been abducted on November 2 by unidentified gunmen but was later released unharmed, sources said.
A source close to the family said he had complained of head ache in days following his release and had difficulties talking before he was transferred to Mbingo Baptist Hospital where he gave up the ghost.
While in captivity he was not harmed and had to pay the sum of 150.000 FCFA before he was released with the help of one of his former students at the Government High School Elak, Oku, close sources said.
The source added that the Principal had been abducted because he voted during the October 7 Presidential election. Residents in Oku who participated at the Presidential election have been the target of armed men who had called for a tota boycott.
