A good number of Kamto’s supporters who took to the streets this Tuesday morning in Ndokoti, a neighbourhood in Douala, Littoral region of Cameroon calling for the departure of the Head of State Paul Biya have met with stiff resistance from forces of law and order who used tear gas and water canons to disperse them.

Demonstrations announced by the Cameroon Renaissance Movement party, MRC for this Tuesday September 22 to oust President Paul Biya from power began at exactly 10am this morning in the economic capital Douala.

Protesters took off from the Ndokoti neighbourhood chanting songs calling for the departure of President Paul Biya and his Government.

They were dispersed by tear gas and water canons used on them by expectant security forces positioned in strategic areas in the town.

Others are reported to have been arrested at the Camtel Bepanda neighbourhood.

By the time we put this piece online, the protest is ongoing in parts of Douala, Bafang and Baham in the West region of Cameroon.

According to the programme, those in Yaounde will converge to Poste central by 1pm for the kick-off.
