Security forces have used teargas to disperse the population of Njombe-Penja who gathered earlier today at their late Mayor’s residence to view his remains before burial.
Paul Eric Kingue’s remains were coffined at the Douala Laquintini Hospital this Wednesday morning.
While the funeral convoy was on its way to his residence in Njombe-Penja, Moungo Division of the Littoral region of Cameroon, the population of the area, devastated by his sudden departure gathered at his place in their numbers.
They requested his remains be paraded around the Municipality before burial.
Unfortunately for them, authorities turned down the request indicating he died of COVID-19 and had to be buried in strict compliance with anti-Coronavirus barrier measures.
The angry population gave a deaf ear to the response and were fired with teargas.
Paul Eric Kingue died early Monday March 22.
