The Prime Minister, Head of Government Philemon Yang on Friday signed a decree appointing the various heads of the disarmament committee.
The decree signed after approval from the Presidency of the Republic place Mr. Gabsa Nyagha Sixtus as head of the Regional Centre for the Disarament Committee in the North West Region.
Mr. Fonju Njukang Bernard was appointed to head the committee in the South West region while Oumar Bichiar was placed in charge of the committee in the Far North Region.
Their appointments come after the Head of State Paul Biya signed a decree last week appointing former Governor Fai Yengo Francis as head of the disarmament committee.
The initiative has received mixed reactions from the country’s political class with many feeling it would have come after a ceasefire must have been called and dialogue initiated.
However, others close to the Yaounde regime believe it is the right step in the right direction and expect the committee to be one more solution in solving the crisis in the troubled regions.
