The Head of State Paul Biya on Thursday December 13 ordered for the discontinuance of proceedings pending before military tribunals against Anglophone activists.
This is contained in a press release signed by the Secretary General of the Presidency Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh on instructions of the Head of State.
The decision concerns a total of 289 arrested for misdemeanours in connection to the crisis in the North West and South West regions and will be implemented by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence Joseph Beti Assomo.
The decision comes on the heels of the setting up of the disarmament, demobilization and reintegration committee to reintegrate ex fighters of armed groups in the North West, South West .
“The Head of State decision is guided by his resolve to give our young compatriots in the two regions who wish to renounce violence and return to the right path the opportunity to once more participate in the lofty task of nation-building,” Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh said in the press release.
