The Head of State Paul Biya on Wednesday January 16 announced the imminent holding of Regional elections in Cameroon.
Paul Biya made the announcement at the end of the first cabinet meeting of the year where he put his ministers to task after they were recently appointed on January 4.
Amongst the tasks assigned them is to prepare for the upcoming Legislative, Municipal and Regional elections in the country.
Paul Biya however did not state when these elections will hold as parliamentarians and mayors continue to benefit from a one-year mandate extension by the Head of State.
The organisation of regional elections will be another step in accelerating the decentralisation process as a solution to the problems raised in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon
