Statistics from the Ministry of Public Health reveal that as at Thursday April 15, 1,611 people have been freely administered the first doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine against the Coronavirus pandemic in the 30 health districts which have begun with the immunization campaign nationwide.

According to these statistics, the Centre region where the campaign was launched Monday April 12 records the highest number, 893 followed by the West region with 236.

The region with the list number of vaccinated persons is the South West with 16.

The very first Cameroonian to be administered the first dose of this vaccine was the Minister of Public Health, Dr Malachie Manaouda, followed by some other health officials and then health personnel.

The vaccination campaign is already effective in all ten regions of the country.

During a joint press conference last Tuesday April 13, the Ministers of Communication and Public Health indicated that the Government will acquire new vaccines including the famous Aztrazeneca and Johnson/Johnson which according to some reports have harmful side effects.

Responding to a tweet on the use of these two vaccines in Cameron, Minister Manaouda said the country is still observing the principle of precaution just like many other countries ordering these same vaccines.
