More than 11,000 people in Cameroon have already been vaccinated against the deadly Coronavirus pandemic in the sidelines of the national immunization campaign launched close to three weeks ago.
The information was disclosed by the Minister of Public Health, Dr Malachie Manaouda during the Cabinet meeting of the month of April that held this Thursday under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute.
Minister Malachie Manaouda said the vaccination is underway in about 80 vaccination centres set up nationwide.
He expressed optimism as far as this immunization campaign is concerned, indicating that Cameroonians are in their majority receptive to the vaccines.
As far as the pandemic is concerned, the Health boss noted a decrease in the number of contamination as well as a reduction in the death rate, stating that Cameroon has reached the peak of the second wave of the pandemic.
To date, the country counts 72,250 cases out of 64,572 have recovered and 1,107 died.
Ahead of a possible third wave of the pandemic, the Prime Minister has insisted on active epidemiological surveillance.
