Cameroonians have taken to social media platforms to express their joy and pride as compatriot Francis Ngannou becomes the newly crowned Ultimate Fighting Championship UFC heavyweight title bearer.
The 34-year old who hails from the West region of Cameroon shattered his American opponent, Stipe Miocic 52 seconds into the second round of a confrontation last Saturday March 27 to become the world heavyweight champion.
The fighter felled his opponent with a savage blow that left Stipe Miocic on his feet.
He added another blow on the American’s throat before the referee called time on the fight.
“I feel great man. It’s been three years that I have been living without it, I always thought that I could have it three years ago, so tonight there wasn’t a place for mistakes…” Francis Ngannou said after lifting up the belt.
“Me and my team have been working, in my corner reminding me to calm down and execute the game plan well, perfectly, and you know here we are.” He added.
The Cameroonian boxer was facing Miocic for the second time after losing his title fight to the American at UFC 220 by unanimous decision in January 2018.
