At least one civilian has been killed and three soldiers injured during clashes between security forces and suspected separatist fighters around the Mile 14 neighbourhood in Buea, South West region of Cameroon.

According to sources, ther Mile 14 and Mile 15 neighbourhoods were in complete lockdown on Thursday night as soldiers battled ssuspected separatist fighters in the area.

This left residents in the area in panic as they got up the neext morning to discover a civilian lying dead on the streets.

Three soldiers of the Rapid Intervention Batallion from neighbouring Mutengene were evacuated to Douala on Friday for medical treatment after sustaining severe injuries from the clashes.

An uneasy calm now reigns in Mile 14 as some of the residents have started packing out of thee area to safer locations.
