The number of persons who have died due to the Coronavirus pandemic in Cameroon now stand at nine hundred and nineteen, almost a thousand as the country witnesses a second wave of the virus.

The updated figure was communicated by the Minister of Public Health, Dr Malachie Manaouda in a tweet this Thursday April 8.

According to his tweet, the country count s sixty one thousand, seven hundred and thirty-one confirmed cases, among which three thousand, eight hundred and eighty-six are active.

The country is currently witnessing a second wave of the virus which according to health officials is more deadly compared to the first wave last year.

The rate of recovery has decreased meanwhile the severity and bed occupancy have considerably increased

Every week, not less than 40 deaths are recorded.

The population have been called upon to strictly adhere to Government’s anti-Coronavirus measures so as to limit the spread of the pandemic.

As part of Government’s response strategy, about 200,000 doses of the Chinese Sinopharm anti-COVID-19 vaccine is expected in the country anytime soon.
