Security forces alongside some civilians have walked through some parts of Bamenda in the North West region of Cameroon, calling for an end to ghost town operations rocking that part of the country, reports have confirmed.

At the sight of curious onlookers, they walked and sometimes danced in a public demonstration of support for an end to ghost town operations in that area.

According to sources, the move was intended to encourage Bamenda inhabitants to go about their day-to-day activities on Mondays, day imposed by separatists as ghost town.

Another reason behind the peaceful march reports say was the desire to remind inhabitants the military is there to protect and not to hurt them, as such they need to collaborate to ensure they and their property are protected effectively.

The move was launched by the Commander of the Fifth Joint Military region Brig General Nka Valere Monday January 27, 2020.
