A C130 Air Force plane is reported to have missed the tarmac of the Maroua-Salak Airport in the Far North region of Cameroon while landing due to poor weather conditions Sunday August 2, 2020 and ran into a nearby plain.
According to a release from the Ministry of Defence, the Air Force that was on mission had on board ninety-six passengers including five crew members and ninety-one Defence Forces personnel deployed within the Multinational Joint Task Force of the Lake Chad Basin Commission, LCBC.
When it got to the Maroua-Salak Airport in the Diamare Division of the Far North region of Cameroon where it was supposed to land, the aircraft istead went off the runway due to poor weather conditions.
Apart from slight material damage requring a thorough assessment of the aircraft, the Ministry of Defence says no human life was lost, neither was anybody on board injured.
Investigations have been opened to determine the cause of the incident.
