The National Order of Medical Doctors and the National Council of Pharmacists of Cameroon have agreed on Government’s option to use vaccines in a bit to protect the population against the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.

They made this point clear after an in camera meeting with the Prime Minister Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute Tuesday April 6.

Speaking to the press, the President of the National Council of Pharmacists, Dr Dange Nana Franck said they were in for a mass vaccination campaign against the coronavirus pandemic.

“We told the Prime Minister the need for Government to protect the population and one way could be through vaccines…” He hinted.

Dr Dange indicated that just like all other medicines, vaccines have side effects but with the vaccination, it is certain the spread of the virus can be contained.

He added that other African countries have already begun using the vaccines, including Ghana, Togo, Senegal and asuch Cameroon should join the train and vaccinate its population to protect families.

The President of the National Order of Medical Doctors clearly spelled out that nobody will be forcefully administered any vaccine.

The Government has announced the arrival of the first 200,000 dosages of the Chinese Sinopharm anti-COVID-19 vaccine on April 11.

The Expanded Programme on Immunization which aims at universal access to all relevant vaccines for all at risk will be in charge of vaccinating the population.
