The leader of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement Maurice Kamto has been remanded at the Kondengui prison where he will be detained while waiting trial.

Maurice Kamto alongside other members of his party were sent to Kondengui after spending hours at the Yaounde military tribunal on Tuesday where they were grilled by the State Prosecutor.

At least seven charges were brought before the leader of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement some of which are rebellion, hostility against the Fatherland, insurrection, complicity in destruction.

Other key members and ally of his party who have been sent to Kondengui include Albert Dzongang, Celestin Djamen and Alain Fogue.
