Renowned 86-year old Cameroonian saxophonist, Manu Dibango is presently receiving treatment after he tested positive for the COVID-19 pandemic in France where the virus continue to spread rapidly, a post on his Facebook page has confirmed.
“Dear audience, dear friends, we inform you that after a recent hospitalization due to COVID-19, Manu Dibango is taking some rest and recovers in serenity, he wants you to respect his privacy and looks forward to meeting you soon and asks you to take good care of yourselves in this troubled period we are going through…” the post reads.
According to sources, the Cameroonian jazz icon, saxophonist, pianist, vibraphonist and song composer who was born in December 12, 1933 contracted the virus while he was admitted at the Lariboisiere Hospital in France for another pathology.
He is now receiving treatment at the Melun Hospital, the source added.
Manu Dibango is not the only Cameroonian to have tested positive to the pandemic, in the night of Monday March 15 breaking Tuesday, Didier Mbeng, reportedly died after suffering from the virus.
