A locally made gun was discovered in a classroom in Government Bilingual High School Batchwa located in the Bamboutous Division, West region of Cameroon, reports have said.

According to reports, upon discovery, the gun was handed over to forces of law and order who guarded West region governor Awa Fonka Augustine during his Monday tour in various schools in that part of the country.

For now, nothing is certain on how the gun got to the classroom.

Some reports say the proximity of the West region to its neighbouring crisis-hit North West region could be an easy access road to separatists.

This situation has reportedly prompted the government to ensure schools neighbouring the North West region are heavily guarded to prevent attacks or any other move from separatists intended to disrupt education during the ongoing academic year.
