The first ever female Secretary of State in Cameroon and former Minister of State Property and Land Tenure, Jacqueline Koung a Bessike who passed on to glory last June 2 has been raised to the dignity of Grand Cordon of the Cameroonian Merit posthumously.

 

The late State personality was decorated last Saturday July 24 by the Governor of the Centre region, Naseri Paul Bea, personal representative of the Head of State at her funeral ceremony in Bafia.

Jacqueline Koung a Bessike kicked the bucket on June 2 at the Social Insurance Hospital in Yaounde after undergoing a surgical intervention few days before.

She now rests in her native Bafia, chief town of the Mbam and Inoubou Division in the Centre region of Cameroon.

Jacqueline will be remembered as the very first Cameroonian lady to hold the office of Secretary of State.

Before he demise, the last post she held was that of Minister of State Property and Land Tenure untill 2019 following the Cabinet reshuffle.

The late State woman was at the centre of scandals related to mismanagement of funds, land and property and had been auditioned at the Special Criminal Court on several occasions.

She quits the scene at a time when it is announced that an audit will be conducted on the State land including when she managed the Ministry of State Property and Land Tenure.
