The Israeli Embassy in Cameroon has donated 30 wheelchairs to disabled children in Yaounde as part of activties to celebrate the International Awareness Day of People with Disabilities.

Children with disabilities of the  PROHANDICAM Centre in Yaounde were all in delight to receive the ‘‘Wheelchairs of Hope’’ from the Israeli Ambassador to Cameroon Ran Gidor.

“We feel passionate about both education and assisting people with disabilities and this represent one of our priorities especially as some families can’t afford to buy these wheelchairs,”the Israeli ambassador to Cameroon Ran Gidor said.

He added that the wheelchairs designed by an Israeli NGO are tailor-made for developing countries and are  affordable, light weight and durable.

Receiving the gifts, the Coordinator of the PROMHANDICAM Centre, thanked the Ambassador for the particular attention shown to persons living with disabilities as well as their main partner the Christian Blind Mission for making the donations possible.

While receiving the wheelchairs, the children were accompanied by their parents who were taught how to properly use the devices.
