The Minister of Higher Education Professor Jacqus Fame Ndongo has urged stakeholders in the sector to accelerate the transformation of institutions of higher learning into entrepreneurship and digital hubs.

Professor Jacques Fame Ndo was speaking at the weekend in Yaounde while receiving New Year Wishes from stakeholders of the higher education sector.

While receiving the wishes, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo praised the Rectors and Vice Chancellors of the eight state universities for giving a new impetus to their institutions but urged them to go further by attaching more value to scientific research in their various institutions.

He equally urged all stakeholders in the higher education sector to ensure to optimise training in order to enable graduates meet up with the challenges in the job market. To that effect, he called on universities to evaluate the impact of the incubators created in the various universities.

The ceremony was equally an opportunity for the Higher Education Minister to review 2019 which he said was satisfactory and crowned with the recruitment of 1237 PhD holders into state institutions strengthening the teaching populating at state universities to 5369.

He said this special recrutement exercise falls in line with the Head of State’s vision to build a emerging nation where the higher education sector is the think tank for solutions.

It was equally an opportunity for the higher education community to honour personnels of state universities who have distinguished themselves with their services, notable Professor Jean Tabi Manga who was elevated to the rank of Grand Officer of the National Order of Valour.
