There has beeen no outbreak of meningitis in Limbe, South West region of Cameroon, health officials have said while calling on the population to remain calm.
Rumours of a meningitis outbreak in Limbe last week left locals worried with some even seeking medical assistance but health officiasls move moved to dismiss the rumour.
The Directors of the Regional Hospital Limbe, District Hospital and CMA Limbe in a joint communiqué dismissed the rumour and said they had not registred any cases of meningitis.
They however said they are investigating the origin of the rumour which was spread on social media and called on the population to remain calm.
