The Committee to Protect Journalists has urged the government of Cameroon to release journalists who have been arbitrarily detained for the past months.
The Africa Program Coordinator of CPJ, Angela Quintal called on the government of Cameroon to uncoditionally released journalists who have been detained in the line of their duties.
She cited five journalists , Elvis McCarthy, Thomas Awah Junior, Michel Biem Tong and Mancho Bibixy as those still being detained by Cameroonian authorities.

Michel Biem Tong was arrested last week and detained at the Gendarmerie headquarters for an audio in which he is alleged to have called for unity within the rangs of the Ambazonia leaders.
On their part, Mancho Bibixy and Thomas Awah Junior were both slammed 15 and 11 year jail terms in May after a military tribunal in Yaounde found them guilty of secession, terrorism amongst other charges.
Thomas Awah whose deteriorating prison consition has recently made headline news returned to prison last week after spending a month in hospital.
On his part, Elvis McCarthy was arrested earlier this year in Bamenda for allegedly filming security forces and has since been in detention.
