The Government of Cameroon has refuted allegations of fresh massacre of civilians by defence and security forces in Foe Bakundum, a locality in the Mbonge sub-division, Meme Division of the restive South West region of the country.

On Friday March 26, a video presenting the massacre of men, women and children attributed to security forces accused of having carried out a raid killing in cold blood several civilians in the village of Foe Bakundum went viral.

In a release issued few days later, the Communication Director at the Ministry of Defence refutes the allegations indicting the military and describes the video as an amateur photographic report made up to tarnish the image of security forces.

According to the release, the pictures in the video are those of an operation carried out successfully by defence and security forces on March 18 in Foe Bakundum which led to the neutralization of six terrorist.

It indicates that after the departure of State forces, separatists took advantage to make a crime scene which they later on brandished as evidence of massacres.

This is not the first time the Gov’t refutes allegations of massacre of civilians by soldiers in the two restive Anglophone regions.
