The national immunization campaign against the deadly Coronavirus pandemic has been expanded to the general public with calls for the population to get themselves vaccinated in a bid to stop the spread of the pandemic.

The extended campaign which is voluntary kicks off this Wednesday April 28 and is expected to run till the 2nd of May.

Cameroonians have been called upon to present themselves at the various vaccination centres nationwide to receive their first dose of the vaccine.

The immunization campaign was launched two weeks ago with a first target being health personnel actively involved in the fight against the pandemic, old age persons having health issues and State personalities.

As at now, close to 7000 people have already been administered the vaccines in Cameroon, either the Chinese Sinopharm or the British AstraZeneca.

As per requirements on who can take the vaccine, health experts say anybody who has been exposed to the virus six to three months ago should not take the virus for now because his/her immune system has already developed anti-bodies and it would be needless and a waste to take the vaccine.
