A vast operation to census local council personnel nationwide has been launched by the Ministry of Decentralisation and Local Development.

The operation that will officially start on Monday March 18  aims to set up a database of council personnel for use, as well as monitor staff careers and also to lay down rules for setting up a local public service.

As teams begin going down to the field on Monday, the Minister of Decentralization and Local development Georges Elanga Obam has called on the staff concerned  to co-operate for a hitch-free census.

The census is coming on the backdrop of the General Conference of Local Councils held last month in Yaoundde and whose recommendations were forwarded to the Head of State.
